Sun Valley Winter 20/21 Update

September 21, 2020

A hint of winter has made its arrival in Sun Valley, that means it is time to get excited about skiing. Dependent on weather, Sun Valley Resort plans to open Bald Mountain on Thanksgiving Day, November 26th and Dollar Mountain will follow on December 12th.

Mountain Access

With current Covid restrictions likely to be in place throughout the winter, Sun Valley will require guests and employees to wear facial coverings when in public spaces and indoors. Thankfully, due to Sun Valleys location off the beaten path, they do not anticipate implementing a reservation system for season pass holders or Epic Pass Holders. However, if necessary they will limit day of access for both Bald Mountain and Dollar Mountain through lift ticket sales. It is highly recommended to purchase lift tickets in advance when they go on sale in early October.

Season Passes are currently on sale here. The Epic Pass offers 7 days unrestricted riding and skiing at Sun Valley and can be purchased here.

On Mountain Dining

All on Mountain Dining is anticipated to be opened as usual with some new added safety measures. Indoor seating capacity will be reduced while outdoor seating will be expanded. Certain restaurants will have reservation systems in place, menus will be limited and grab and go options will also be available at certain locations.

Snow Sports School & Rentals

Sun Valley will continue to operate Ski Lessons as well as rentals with an emphasis on having guests plan ahead. Snow School Lessons will have reduced capacity for groups and private lessons will go on as normal. For rental equipment, the resorts asks guest to plan ahead and reserve all equipment online.
