Ahh, it is spring in the mountains! Just the sound of spring skiing makes my heart giddy with delight thinking about sunny bluebird days, soft snow and maybe even birds chirping above in the trees. While I appreciate the winter snowstorms, the grey powder days and the cold mountain air, I welcome spring with open arms.

Janss Pro-Am Classic, March 28 - 30
Held in memory of former Sun Valley Company owner Bill Janss, the Janss Pro-Am Classic has titled the reputation as the ‘best party of the snow.’ Skiers and snowboarders of all abilities join forces with a celebrity pro to form a team of six; the squads go head-to-head in a dual giant slalom format on Bald Mountain. Racing is handicapped to give all participants the opportunity to win, regardless if they are World Cup racers or recreational skiers. The only exception is the Janss Speed Cup, which is given to the fastest overall team after handicapping runs on Friday.
Sign up, create a fun team theme with costumes and get ready for a fun day on the slopes and after party, that includes a hospitality tent at the base of Warm Springs with breakfast and lunch on both races days, as well as a welcoming cocktail party at Michel’s Christiania, an apres ski party and barbecue with live music, and a gala dinner at Sun Valley. This is a three-day event to check out!
Cold Bowl Pond Skim, March 31st
Celebrate closing day at Dollar Mountain with the Cold Bowl Pond Skim on Sunday, March 31st. There is an outdoor barbecue, live music, prizes for participants, and special giveaways. Register at Dollar Mountain starting at 9 a.m. with the pond skim starting at noon.
